Climate models are important tools for improving our understanding and predictability of climate behavior on seasonal, annual, decadal, and centennial time scales. Climate Modeling Models use mathematical equations to describe the behavior of factors that impact climate. To study the climate as accurately as possible, a model must be a good representation of the whole Earth, known as an Earth system model. Climate models are systems of differential equations based on the basic laws of physics, fluid motion, and chemistry.
